In Memory Of...

"Grandma Jane" as she was affectionately known to her great grandchildren, passed away this morning, Jan. 6, 2009, approx. 1am. She was a great example to her children, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as she spent the last year of her life battling leukemia with grace, dignity and a positive attitude, continuing to care for and about others just as she had her entire life. She is loved and will be missed greatly by her family and friends, but though it is difficult to say good-bye, we are happy her valiant struggle has come to an end and she is once again reunited with her husband, our father, grandfather and great grandfather, "Poppa". Thank you Grandma and Poppa for all you have taught us and done for us, we love you!

How is dad doing? I was trying to remember last night what my favorite memory of grandma is. One of my top choices was when Melissa and I used to spend the night at her house and play with all the dolls. We had those dolls that looked like real babies and grandma took us to kfc and took the dolls in strollers and people thought they were real babies. Then we got home and she made us pudding with water instead of milk!

I liked the time that me and Grandma went on the Buffalo Bill roller coaster at state line!

Thanks for sharing favorite memories, that's a great idea! If anyone else has any, add them to the comments! Dad is doing well, he's fortunately had lots of time to prepare himself for this. However, he still needs lots of support. And I have to say, how touched I was seeing how he and Bob cared for and spent time with Grandma in hospice. Remember those young women lessons that said watch how a young man treats his mother to see what kind of young man he is? Well that holds true to grown men too, and Dad and Bob are men of the highest quality and character by the care and tenderness and love they showed her.

This is a sad time. I knew Bob and Jane for almost 50 years, way before Ed and Cathy were married. Bob had a gas station across the street frm mine. We had mnany a good time when they took me along when they would visit Ed and Cathy. Jane would pack a great lunch and we would always stop at McDonalds for a pit stop and would never fail to hit State Line to get more money to put in Jane's safe.. She will be sadly missed by all.pilidess
