Ouch!

We made an unexpected visit to Quick Care about a month ago.  Ed was helping Steve with a woodworking project in our driveway/garage.  Ed was using his planer to shave down some pieces of wood, and because they were in a hurry, safety procedures were sort of thrown to the wind.  Instead of using a push piece of wood to move the wood through the planer, Ed was using his hand.  The planer hit a knot in a piece of wood, throwing the wood and shoving Ed's hand down into the blade.  He chopped up 3 fingers on his left hand pretty badly.  There was blood everywhere!  Fortunately he only lost a few chunks of flesh and some nails rather than fingers!!  On our way home we stopped and got him a treat; ice cream and pain meds!  He is healing up well, only wearing bandaids for protection now.

Not Quite Done, But Useable!

The beds are ALMOST done, just a few more finishing details needed, and none too soon!  Most of our guests arrived yesterday and the cousins were so excited to have a sleepover on the new beds!  So far they have been a big hit.

Renovation..

We are in the process of doing some renovation work in our game room.  Erin and I designed a "sectional" last year made of twin beds, and Ed is implementing that design and creating our "sectional".  When it is done it will not only provide seating for lots of kids, but may be able to sleep as many as 8!  It will also be able to be used as twins or a combination of king size beds if needed.

Here are some pictures.  The first is Ed measuring and cutting framework..

This second picture shows the room, we just finished painting, and the first pieces of framework are being installed.  We are using the mattress and trundle just to make sure the beds will fit the way we have measured everything out!

This next picture just shows the addition of some additional framework, we're getting there!!

Happy Birthday Dad!

On the sixth of July we headed down to my brother Mark's house for a bbq/swim/birthday party in honor of my Dad's 90th birthday.  It was so much fun to get together with everyone, it's been a very long time.  Thanks Mark and Holly for putting that together!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!
